Over the past year, many people have asked me, “What is the #1 way that my coach has helped me become a faster runner?” It’s a pretty simple answer. Strides. In running, strides are a very short burst of speed added into your easy run. For example, on an easy run day, I’ll go out and run 8 “easy” miles with 6X20 seconds fast and an additional 2 easy minutes in the second half of the run. Why has this seemingly short activity made me faster? Consistency is key to reach your work and running goals
Renowned ultra-marathon coach David Roach writes that the key to running success is “building a really huge aerobic wall through consistent running.” He adds that “the best way to build fitness… is to focus on putting as many daily bricks (runs) as possible, even if they are really small.” He goes on to say that “to be any good at running, you have to train frequently and consistently to improve running economy and aerobic development, not necessarily hard and long which increases injury risk.”
The Millennial generation has been moving to Denver in droves. Between 2010 and 2014, the Denver metro area had one of the largest influxes of domestic migrants in the U.S. Many of these migrants were Millennials, who make up more than 20% of the city’s population. This influx is present in more than just the city’s general demographics: Millennials are also on the rise in the Denver tech market. For any Denver organization that is thinking about the future, it’s time to develop a hiring strategy that embraces Millennials and works to recruit and retain this generation of up-and-coming tech professionals.
