On May 21st, 2015, members of the EdgeLink Denver team witnessed the final round of the Go Code Colorado competition unfold first-hand. Sponsored by the state of Colorado, Go Code Colorado challenged development teams statewide to create apps using public sector, open source data to help local businesses make smarter decisions. The final round pitted nine teams against each other for one of three $25,000 grants and hands-on tech sector mentorship sessions.
Edgelink was represented at the event by Amanda Grochowalski and Ashley Martinez, both Senior Technical Recruiters on the EdgeLink Denver team. Amanda said, “one of our candidates was a member of the MentorMatter team and anyone who knows EdgeLink understands that we were ecstatic to see one of our candidates reach so far.” Continue reading
On April 24th, 2015, EdgeLink cosponsored a Colorado Ski Day event for its many technology partners along the gorgeous slopes of Colorado’s Arapahoe basins. The outing was hosted and organized by ViaWest with the help of EdgeLink, Market Creation Group, Brainspire, SLI Global, and Vista Solutions as a way of building greater bonds with existing partners and making new connections. John Kingdeski, Manager of Contract Services at EdgeLink, led the all-day outing for the EdgeLink team and had this to say about the event.
“Part of the EdgeLink difference has always been that we build lasting relationships with our customers. Why limit those interactions? I see fun events like this as an extension of that ideal. Plus, everyone had a blast on the slopes, whether they could ski powder or not.” Continue reading
Attending my first 1 Million Cups event last June, I had no idea what I was signing up for. But, inspired by their tradition of asking every single presenter, “what can we do to help you,” I knew I needed to be a part of it.
1 Million Cups started in 2011 in Kansas City, MO by the Kauffman Foundation with the premise that they wanted to build a local entrepreneurial community. They decided that it would take (at least) 1 Million Cups of coffee to do that. Less than two years later they are now in 65+ cities, including the Colorado technology market! Continue reading
On January 26th, 2015, EdgeLink Denver sponsored the Denver Visual Studio User Group and presented for the second time. The group is hosted monthly by Chris Wallace and held at Microsoft in the Denver Tech Center for developers who are utilizing the Microsoft stack. Aaron Mills, Denver Manager, presented on ‘The attributes that make a company great to work for’ after 6 weeks of research by the entire EdgeLink Denver team.
The team gathered information from both candidates and clients about what makes their company great to work for and how employee retention is promoted. The results were interesting to say the least! From waffle breakfasts, bike sharing, dogs in the office, and free lunches, the participants in EdgeLink’s study had plenty of information about why they love (or hate) the place they work.
