What Attending the 2016 Women in Technology Colorado Conference Taught Us

What Attending the 2016 Women in Technology Colorado Conference Taught UsAuthored by Whitney Bertram and Loren Gassaway

We love being part of Colorado’s tech community. There are so many dynamic voices and creative thinkers here that we are always learning something new to take back to our clients, our candidates, and our daily lives. For example, the most recent Women in Technology (WIT) Conference, held by the Colorado Technology Association on June 10th, gave us more than just food for thought: it gave us new perspectives.

The over 600 women gathered at the Denver Botanic Gardens in Chatfield to participate in the WIT Conference was an incredible sight to see. Why You’ll Always Find EdgeLink at C-Level Ski Day

IMG_3048The staffing business doesn’t have to be boring. We find that when you’re hard-wired to a business mentality at all times, you miss out on chances to really connect with people. That’s why we get involved with the Denver Startup week, mix with great minds at Go Code Colorado, CTA (Colorado Technology Association), numerous technology meetups and my personal favorite event: C-Level Ski  Day

This was the 5th year we were part of the C-Level/Technology Leadership Ski Day. This is by far my favorite “work event,” if you can call it that, of the year. We cosponsor Colorado Ski Day, an event arranged by ViaWest, along with a number of great names in the  Denver technology community. This is a great opportunity to show appreciation to our partners, get out and enjoy a day of skiing, mingle with other technology leaders, eat, and of course drink some beers. On May 21st, 2015, members of the EdgeLink Denver team witnessed the final round of the Go Code Colorado competition unfold first-hand. Sponsored by the state of Colorado, Go Code Colorado challenged development teams statewide to create apps using public sector, open source data to help local businesses make smarter decisions. The final round pitted nine teams against each other for one of three $25,000 grants and hands-on tech sector mentorship sessions.

Edgelink was represented at the event by Amanda Grochowalski and Ashley Martinez, both Senior Technical Recruiters on the EdgeLink Denver team. Amanda said, “one of our candidates was a member of the MentorMatter team and anyone who knows EdgeLink understands that we were ecstatic to see one of our candidates reach so far.” Continue reading
