Working in the Pacific Northwest recruiting market for over a decade, Mark has extensive experience managing major accounts, mentoring recruiters, and identifying industry-leading talent for client companies.

Mark regularly recruits for early stage companies and is particularly interested in emerging technologies such as wireless and wire-line communications, alternative energy and nanotechnology.

Before joining EdgeLink, Mark served as a major accounts manager for Verizon Wireless where he was responsible for identifying new business opportunities in the Oregon and Southwest Washington market, as well as strategic planning for the wireless technology initiatives of major accounts. Prior to that, Mark was a senior account executive at a publicly-held IT firm based in the Silicon Valley. He was responsible for developing and increasing new business in the Portland/Vancouver market.

Prior to his recruiting career, Mark spent 13 years in the media industry. After several years of writing, directing, and producing commercials and music videos in Seattle and Eugene, he co-founded Instore Entertainment, a media/production company that was an early pioneer in point of sale video programming. Mark has won several media-related awards including three RIAA gold records for recording industry promotional achievements.

Mark enjoys digital photography and graphics design and still works on the occasional video project. He is active in the Oregon Youth Soccer program and coaches his daughter’s team in the Southside Soccer Club.

Getting the Edge on Mark

First job:

Paper boy. My brother and I actually had a monopoly on all of the papers delivered in the neighborhood. (Oregonian, Register Guard and Valley Green Sheet).

Favorite thing to do outside of work:

Golf (poorly, but I love working on it).

Love ‘em! Dog (Rex a black lab whose nickname is Dumb), Cat (George who is as old as dirt), Russian Tortoise (Illyana – which we looked up in a book of Russian names).

Who inspires you?

Me. I don’t use crutches to get inspired.

Things your mother would approve of:

I always strive to do the right thing. My tenacity and drive to be successful. Momma always said I was the one kid she never had to worry about.

Favorite music:

Rock and roll baby! Classic rock, wavo, punk, alternative, all of it. Yeah I was one of the original punkers in my day. Long live Sid!

Favorite hobbies:

Digital photography, anything techie or nerdy.
